Pie Crust

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) very cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • Approximately 3/4 to 1 cup ice cold water

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt and sugar.
  2. Cut in butter, using a pastry cutter or two knives, leaving small chunks of butter in the mixture.
  3. Slowly add ice cold water to the mixture, a little at a time, forming into a dough. (You might not need all the water.)
  4. Divide dough into 2 pieces and wrap each piece in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Using a rolling pin, roll each piece of dough out on a floured surface.
